… during which I woke up at my son's place; collected my friend (friends since we were 8) from the train; and drove south for 180 kilometres to Potato Point.
Sussex Inlet
Where I went for a morning stroll
Nowra
Where I rushed around trying to find fruit salad for a picnic
Bomaderry Creek Regional Park
Where we ate the picnic
Milton
Where we stopped for food and a short ramble
Home
Where we ate curry, and rhubarb and apple imported from Newcastle.
Is that a sculpture in the park, Meg- with the footprints? Looks an interesting place. Australian place names confound me. They don’t relate to anything remotely familiar to me. Have a happy time with your friend! π

It’s a mildly 3D mural with an Aboriginal flavour, as are the decorations on the information board shelter. The feet have names in them – I would imagine the names of the group that created the mural. All the animal eyes have smaller images in them. I wondered what the effect of place names would be in the northern hemisphere! They often have an Aboriginal origin. Bodalla means something like “near many waters”: Nowra means “camping place” or “black cockatoo”: Bomaderry is “fighting ground” or “running water” (usually some confusion by those colonisers.) There are often variant, Anglicised spellings too. The picnic park leads to a great walk through sandstone and eucalypts into rain forest. There’s a blog about the walk at http://morselsandscraps.wordpress.com/2013/05/11/nowra-unveiled/

Yes, I assumed Aboriginal. You’ll have to put the translations in for me in future. I like the personal service though. π

Now that looks like a long Monday! Lovely tranquil photos followed by interesting Art Deco style buildings and finished with a couple of smoothies – or is one a Bloody Mary? Enjoy your time with your friend Meg:)
