A slow day. Plenty of sitting and absorbing. . An encounter with a pair of magpie geese. Reflections in crocodile waters, saltwater and freshwater. A wander through Gondwana, a palm swamp, an Aboriginal garden. Disappointment when the orchid and fern houses are closed. Delight in the vividness and eccentricity of tropical flowers and ferns. So much to see.
For a start, let's ramble around and get a feel for the landscape of the gardens.

Don’t ask how many photos! I have to sort and clear before Warsaw: I fly out next Friday.

BTW my dear old Mam used to say “better to wear out than rust out” and she lived a good life into her 90’s

If you need to stay in one place to rust, I won’t be doing it this year. I’m making arrangements for a week away in October now. And that’s after 6 weeks in Stanthorpe, and maybe a trip to Broken Hill!

Wonderful lily pads and a fabulous photo of the bird, is that the magpie goose? But the boardwalks fascinate me, they lure me in!

The boardwalk was stunning, and mosquito-free to my astonishment. A bit narrow for passing for this unsteady-on-her-pins woman. I’m used to a lot of space. It took me through three different swamp-scapes.

It reminds me of a rain forest boardwalk in Borneo, we saw a he snake slither out form under it as we approached!

Am I right in thinking you aren’t keen on snakes?

I think it’s a magpie goose – I’m wobbly on ID as well. For a woman who relishes close-up photos, I’m surprisingly weak on detailed observation.

I was surprised by the extent of the gardens. A young woman in the art gallery said it hadn’t changed since she was a child, and the man in the tourist information centre, who used to mow the lawns there, attested to its size! There’s a conservation park stretching up the mountain which I didn’t go near.
