The old dead tree near the ruined house en route to my iPad internet connection is covered in lichen. In the winds and snow of the last few weeks, twigs have been blown off and the ground is littered with the patterns of pistachio green lichen with deep brown innards, quite beautiful. In the afternoon sun, warm as long as the wind was still, I knelt down in the tussocky grass and paid photographic homage.
Pistachio green is such a perfect image. Always conjures icecream for me π And warmth! Love the thought of you creeping about in the grass, Meg. Off to have breakfast now π

I thought so too, thanked Wikipedia’s paint chart, and then looked at my photos. Grey, not green.

You could, of course, skilfully inject some colour with processing. I haven’t learned that trick yet π¦ But I know that wasn’t your intent. π

I’m wondering which is right, eye or camera. I love the paint chart. I had it on my iPhone en route to the Barrier reef, trying to name the colours of the sea.

And grey is supposed to be dull!

They ARE grey. In my head they are a pale greeny colour. You must’ve thought my pistachio description slightly mad. Can two cameras lie? I’m going to have to go back.

A splendid portrait, Meg. The first shot is very atmospheric. I like the angle you’ve chosen – plenty of lichen in the foreground and then the tantalising glimpse of the roofless outbuilding on the horizon, and the blue sky through the fence mesh.

That building is tantalising. I think it’s become more ruinous since I arrived. Thanks for enjoying my portrait.
