After being caught up in the violent clash of tectonic plates and the cataclysmic upheavals in geological time, I went in search of still waters. I found them in the Bermagui wetlands, on my doorstep at Brunderee Lake, Brush Lake and the creek two streets over, and in the rock pools at Shelly Beach. These were places of gentle wind-ruffles, calm reflections, the occasional punctuating splash of ducks taking off, the serenity of water lily pads, the dignified gliding of swans, and expanding ripples from sea spray or dragonflies.
