Thank you everyone for being such a rich part of my blogging world and for joining me as I peregrinated through 2015. Thank you especially to my five top conversationalists according to WordPress statistics, in alphabetical order – heyjude, lucidgypsy, pommepal, restlessjo and my non-blogging longtime friend Rosemary – but also to everyone else who took time to read and comment. My favourite part of blogging is the exchanges I have with you.
This time of year is usually a time of some excess – of food and drink, of get togethers, of family, of crowds in usually uncrowded places (at least in my south coast paradise), of hospitality, and of flamboyance and clamour. So I'm offering you, along with my heartfelt good wishes for 2016, something a bit subtle and serene to rest your eyes and your heart.

I have never seen so many wonderful abstracts from nature as on this blog. May 2016 be filled with good health, joy and happiness for you and all your dear people!

Splendid, subtle and definitely serene, just what my morning calls for in fact! I like the sparkles with the toe and the shadows on the last one. Hope New Years Day has been good for you Meg, I’m off out to a mill that has been restored, love Gx

The toe was NOT supposed to be there. I’m only just realising that my resize app doesn’t hold edits. However, Brett Whiteley often painted his hand into his paintings, so I could claim to be part of a tradition. You have picked my two favourite photos (without the toe!) I’m looking forward to the restored mill post.
My NY day was mega-quiet. I had a TV binge, transferred photos to pc, and kept quiet while my resident son slept. The grandkids were off with cousins entering sandcastle competitions, and their parents were partying with old friends. J’s in the middle of a fear-of-fire frenzy, so I left him to it. Good regrouping.

Well it has just passed midnight here now so we are back in the same year š
Love your textures and speckled leaves. I hope to get a Grevillea this year – there must be one I can have a go at growing! Happy New Year Meg, it sounds as if it is going to be an exciting one for you.

Oh those leaves, especially the curled one, and that little bit of nature’s pebblecrete. We can’t improve on nature’s artistry but we can, having seen it, celebrate and share it through the camera and the internet. Thank you for sharing so much during 2015, dear friend. I am looking forward to more such gifts during 2016.

Actually that leaf was a curled piece of bark, just as attractive!

I can’t remember who I’ve already wished Happy New Year and who’s wished me! No matter, better to do it twice than not at all.
