Once you’ve seen one, you see them everywhere, even when your focus is on the delicacy of orchids. Rusty vehicles, that is. This one is on the site of the old Bodalla tip, now part of Eurobodalla National Park, and its companions are a pair of magpies, warbling at midday as they avoid my camera. The bits of the vehicle are scattered, and undoubtedly there are more buried in the worryingly desiccated grass.
This is my contribution to DesleyJane’s RegularRandom. Rush over to her blog now for a wonderful gallery of dog portraits to counter my ongoing penchant for rust.

Love your Rust captures! If one thinks about it, it may have started out man-made, but nature has taken over! And the setting for your photos are simply beautiful!

I’m extraordinarily lucky to live where I do, with access to coastline, lakes and bush, usually with no one else around. And I love it when nature takes over. It puts us in our place nicely.

Do you recall the butcher’s ancient ute abandoned on the farm at Rylstone, the rusted body still in one piece, awaiting its fate of disintegration?

The detail of your memory always astonishes. I remember the ute (vaguely) but not its origins! You make me wonder why my vehicle was dismembered. “Fate of disintegration” is a lovely phrase, except when I think that that’s what we’re awaiting too!!!

At least we are still functional and useful. So far.

Maybe it’s because I’ve viewed a lot of abstract and modern art lately, but it almost seems like it’s a sculpture. And you know me – I’m always intrigued by rust!

Funny how that happens. Beseiged in rusty things, that is. 🙂 🙂 This is a particularly fetching collection. Definitely a case of ‘the wheel came off’. A barrowful of hugs with both wheels on! I’d hate to spill a good hug! Have a fantastic week, Meg.

These are good. I was just reading about rust in a book on print making. I didn’t know that if you handle it a lot it gets into your blood and has adverse effects! Much better to just photo it. I like the way you’ve gone from a wide overview to really close up detail with this series.
